Inmate’s jail break: Phones, wire cutters, a drone and $47,000

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — Prison officials in South Carolina say an inmate has been captured in Texas after a second escape from a maximum security prison. The South Carolina Department of Corrections said in a Twitter message around early Friday that 46-year-old inmate Jimmy Causey is in custody. Agency spokeswoman Sommer Sharpe says Causey was arrested by the Texas Department of Public Safety around 3 a.m. The prison is about 30 miles (48 kilometers) northwest of Charleston.

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — A South Carolina inmate broke out of a maximum-security prison using wire cutters apparently flown in by drone, officials said Friday, describing a new and devilishly hard-to-stop means of escape.

Convicted kidnapper Jimmy Causey, 46, was recaptured at a Texas motel before daybreak, more than two days after bolting to freedom in a plot worthy of a Hollywood script. It was the second time in 12 years that he escaped.

This time, he used a smuggled-in cellphone to coordinate the delivery of the ..

A Drone Pilot’s Perspective on Insurance Claims

Drones are proving to be an affordable, scalable solution for conducting aerial inspections. For large businesses looking to conduct adjustments more efficiently, drones are the optimal way to conserve time and money.

In 2016, the FAA’s updated regulations granted insurers approval to use drones for aerial inspections – and so began a slow but steady transformation within the insurance industry that has led to time and cost efficiencies for inspections. Now, rather than sending adjusters up to dangerous heights on potentially-unstable foundation, drone pilots are assigned to survey damage and deliver high-quality imagery to help with claims handling, risk assessment and payment.

Aerial inspections are not just easier. They’re safer, too. Sending a drone out to inspect a claim is far less risky than having an adjuster take photos of property damage, as scaling unsafe heights and puts the adjuster’s personal safety at risk.

Labor Commission warns of OSHA scam; Utah Drone Summit; Associated Food honored for saving energy

Labor Commission warns of OSHA poster scamThe Utah Labor Commission is warning employers in the state to avoid falling victim to individuals and organizations that claim to sell posters from the federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration to be posted in their businesses to comply with OSHA regulations.
These solicitors contact Utah businesses by phone, letter, or personal visit and claim to be an OSHA compliance officer. They threaten employers with inspections, citations, and fines if they don’t immediately pay for health and safety training, consultation services, and the “Consolidated State and Federal” posters to become “compliant.”
Such posters are required to be placed in a visible location at a business, but they are available for free from the Utah Labor Commission at laborcommission.utah.gov.
“We encourage employers to research and ask questions about the companies or individuals offering to sell OSHA posters,” said Jaceson Maughan, Utah Labor Commissioner. “They sh..
