LOOKING TO FIND THAT BALANCE BETWEEN TRANSPARENCY AND DEPLOYMENT OF EVERYTHING FROM FACIAL RECOGNITION TECHNOLOGY TO PREDICTIVE ANALYTICS AND THE USE OF DRONES. JUST LAST WEEK, DRONES WERE USED BY POLICE TO KEEP TABS ON A MAN DURING A PARENTAL ABDUCTION. THE SANTA CRUZ POLICE DEPARTMENT DOES NOT HAVE DRONES. INVESTIGATORS DEPENDED ON THE SHERIFF'S OFFICE DRONES TO KEEP AN EYE ON THE KIDNAPPER. MOVING FORWARD, THE CITY WANTS TO IMPOSE SAFEGUARDS TO PROTECT THE CIVIL LIBERTIES AND CIVIL RIGHTS BEFORE ANY SURVEILLANCE TECHNOLOGY IS DEPLOYED “THERE'S A LOT OF TECHNOLOGY THAT'S EVOLVING-ADVANCING SO QUICKLY THAT IT'S DIFFICULT TO UNDERSTAND HOW IT'S GOING TO IMPACT CITIZENS AND ONE THING THAT'S BEEN SHOWN IS THAT PREDICTIVE POLICING AND SOME OF THESE ..
