Phil Mickelson on Friday beat Tiger Woods in overtime in their US$9 million pay-per-view match in Las Vegas that ended up free for many viewers because of technical problems.
Mickelson won on the 22nd hole, making a 1.2m birdie putt on a specially set-up par three.
“Just know I will never let you live that down. It’s not the Masters or the US Open, but it is nice to have a little something on you,” Mickelson said to Woods after the match.
Woods said he enjoyed the match, even if he was on the losing end.

The U.S. Army is massively revving up the offensive attack technology on its Stryker vehicles with vehicle-launched attack drones, laser weapons, bomb-deflecting structures and a more powerful 30mm cannon, service and industry developers said.
“We have now opened up the aperture for more potential applications on the Stryker,” Col. Glen Dean, Stryker Program Manager, told reporters at the recent Association of the United States Army Annual Symposium.

Drones plan: Businesses welcome new proposals for flying tech industry

Businesses were on Wednesday invited to consult on new plans to create worldwide standards to professionalise the drone industry, in a move expected to boost demand for flying technology.

The International Standards Organisation, which represents standards bodies worldwide, has proposed a number of measures.

They include that firms creating and selling drones could commit to customer and staff training, promise to respect no-fly zones, and have strict privacy and data rules in place.

Robert Garbett, chairman of the British Standards Institution committee for UK drone standards and founder of consultancy Drone Major Group, said: “These standards will undoubtedly lead to a new confidence in safety, security and compliance within this dynamic industry, resulting in a massive expansion in the availability and use of drone technology in the years to come.”

Companies in the industry also welcomed the plans.

Ed Leon Klinger, the boss of London start-up Flock which specialises in dr..
